The Data Transparency Group says: “Federal data should be published online in electronic formats that make the data easy to search, sort and download. When separate federal agencies publish similar data, they should use standardized formats so that government-wide searches are possible.”
Absolutely. But we could go farther. Data standards are the minimum requirement for government to function. Strong standards make for a small state. Bringing data to the citizen must be a basic function of our democracy. SD Times
