ACORD Webinar on Architecture (Listen!)

On January 21, 2015 ACORD’s Architecture team conducted a webinar (recording found here) on the mappings effort involving the ACORD Reference Architecture (Framework) and the ACORD Data Standards. This webinar was a continuation of a session that was held at the ACORD Implementation Forum this past October. Shane McCullough is Chief Enterprise Architect. We are pleased to announce a record number of registrants (262) and attendees (158). With such a large number of people showing interest, it is clear that ACORD’s continued efforts in this area are in high-demand. Because of this demand, we have set up a new Community (found in the Framework and Architecture Community Section on ACORD.ORG) to address member questions and to gather feedback. We also intend to host a follow up webinar in the coming months.

These efforts showcase the importance of the ACORD Reference Architecture in the future of ACORD. More and more organizations are looking to ACORD to provide guidance, tooling and services for internal projects as well as B2B data standards and forms. This webinar will provide a springboard into our ACORD 2015 event with multiple sessions dedicated to Architecture across the entire Insurance value chain.

New Book

My latest book presents the challenges members face when adopting industry standards as well as the opportunities that come as a result. It features my discussions with many people over many years and follows the foundation I set in my first book "The Business Information Revolution".

Industry standards are never adopted in a vacuum. They become part and parcel of all the trials and tribulations managers face in their day to day work. ACORD Standards are always part of a larger software development project that brings along people, priorities and politics. Adopting industry standards isn't simple, but the benefits far outweigh the problems of building and maintaining proprietary alternatives.

I trust that you will appreciate my frankness, identify with some of the challenges and learn from what others have done to pave the way.
